CRASH OVER BRIDGE.
CAR FALLS fNTO CREEK. DRIVER SLIGHTLY INJURED. ESCAPE OF PASSENGERS. A fortunate escape was experienced by four peoplo in a five-seatcr Nash motorcar which broke through the side of tho Orangi bridge, Ihumata, at about two o'clock on Saturday afternoon and plunged into tho tidal creek about 20ft. below. Tho car was driven by Mr. Jafeoafo, a well-known farmer, and also contained two women and a child. Slight injuries were received by the driver, bub the others escaped unhurt. The tide was completely out at tho time, so that the car sank in mud and shallow water At full tide there is nearly 16ft. of water.at this spot, so that had the tide not been out at the time some of the occupants might easily have been drowned. Tho car, which was practically new, was extensively damaged. Twenty strong men were required to haul tho car back to tho roadway.
