EXPORT OF APPLES.
INCREASE FROM AUCKLAND. [by telegraph.-ow:; correspondent. ] KOKAKO, Saturday. A total of 8745 cases of Auckland apples were exported this season, compared with 845 for 1924. With the exception of a few Delicious that were shipped to South America the bulk of the fruit was sent to London. ' The principal variety exported was Dougherty, and practically all came from tho Port Albert district. It is hoped that the enterprise of the growers will be rewarded by good returns. The first shipment, by the Turakina, arrived in good condition, but the returns have not come to hand yet. Other shipments were made by tho Port Wellington and Athenic, now on the water. It is expected that there will be a great increase in the amount exported next season, as the fruitgrowers' associations at Port Albert, Huapai, Henderson and Oratia are taking the matter up enthusiastically. Owing to the increased amount of apples being produced in the Auckland district it will be necessary to export a large quantity in order to make orcharding a paying proposition.
