large entries received. The great interest that is being taken in tho Auckland Competitions Society's musical and dramatic contests to bo held shortly is reflected in the large number of entries received. When nominations closed on Saturday more than 1000 persons had sent: in their names. The majority came from Auckland but there were also entries fc-ora Hawkc's Bay, Falmerston North, Wanganui and Waikato. Many children will take part, especially in the junior choirs It is expected that, by the time full returns have come to hand there will bo over 1400 entrants.
