" CLEANING-UP' WEEK." The Auckland City Council has decided to institute a " Cleaniog-up Week " for the period from WEDNESDAY NEXT, February 26, to TUESDAY, March 4, both days inclusive. This is done as a precautionary measure against the recurrence of influenza or other epidemics. Additional House Refuso Collection Services will be available, and citizens are specially requested to clean up their premises thoroughly and arrango for all rubbish, tins, or other matter, which may harbour rats, etc., to be placed ready for removal by Council oarts on the day on which the collection is usually made. The refuse should be placed in the usual position inside the property, within 10 feet from the boundary and easily accessible. Particular attention is drawn to the 'ollowing extracts from Section 400 of the By- I law:—No person, being the Occupier of any Building, Land, or Premises in tho City or iin the case of unoccuDicd premises) <ysing , the owner thereof, shall ° ] (a) Permit or sufler any refuse, waste matter, material or thing to remain or be kept in such a manner or for such a time as to afford shelter or harbourage for rats, or encourage rats or other vermin to visit and frequent, : or be in such building, land, or premises.
