SOLDIERS ON LEAVE.
Sir,—l wish vto protest against the stop- s|§|s page of tho pay of veterans on long ser- X"?v vice leave. Of. the innumerable petty par- ||| simonies to which we have baen subjected" none have hurt like this. We had hoped ' :■> our four years of service was valued by i® our country, but wa find it rated as worth only 28 days' leave. Not being a veteran on leave I can write without feeling I am " grinding my own axe." Economy is, no doubt, essential, but why should the sol- $ p dier alone be subjected to it, especially as he alone of all classes of Government employees has had no increase of pav since Kfip 1914. Wo soldiers feel we are shabbily treated in many ways, but we also feel "7' r that if any paper or public man were to place the full facte before the people of ' % our dear homeland, matters would be mado right. A. Gurviiis. '/
