ALLEGED WRONGFUL ARREST.
' I APPEAL BY MAORI SOLDIER. Wrongful arrest was alleged by Wirc- ; mu Taupiri Muru (Mr. Sullivan), 4 soldier in camp at Narrow Neck, whose appeal was heard by the Maori Military Service Board yesterday. Counsel stated that appellant had been arrested at Mercer on a charge of refusing to parade. Appellant had received no notice of his calling up in the ballot, and had been mistaken by the authorities for another man' of the same name, living at Rangiriri.
Appellant stated he had never lived at Rangiriri. His permanent home was at Rewiti, Kiapara, and he had gone to school at Woodtiill. Supporting evidenco was given by several witnesses. The appeal was dismissed, the chairman stating that the attention of the commandant would be drawn to the. allegation of mistaken identity.
