POLICE COURT NEWS.
THEFT FROM FATHER ADMITTED. Theft of £2O belonging to his father was admitted by a "youth, Leonard S. liumbv, in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Evidence was given by Detective-Ser-geant Hammond, to the effect that defendant was in a good position, and lived with his parents at Huntly. Ho took advantage of his proposed transfer to another district to steal at odd times from his father's savings. Ho was being interviewed regarding a moro_ serious theft, aid to clear himself of this he admitted taking his father's money. The police were satisfied that he was not connected with the more serious matter. The money had been hoarded up by defendant, and hot spent. Defendant was admitted to probation for 12 months. • _ For having been .drunk, George H. Giggins was fined £l. A first offender was also dealt with.
