NEW ZEALAND HONOURS.
TWO C.M.G.'S AWARDED. SERVICES IN FRANCE. A. and X Z. LONDON. June 2. The fallowing New Zealand ers have been made Companions of the Order of St. Michael and St. George for services in France and Flanders:— Brigadier-General H. Hart. Brigadier-General C. W. Melvill.
Brigadier-General H. Hart, D.5.0., was attached to the \\ elhngton Infantry. When the Fourth Brigade was formed he was promoted to brigadier-general and trek command of it. He served in the South African War, being engaged in operations in the Transvaal. For his services in the present war he was mentioned in despatches on July 3 ana August 5, 1915. and was awarded die D.S.O.
Brigadier-General C. W. Meivili, D.5.0., is a member of the New Zealand Permanent Staff. He was in an Eng'ish regiment before coming to New Zealand to take up farming pursuits. For a time lis was farming at Clinton, but later took a commission in the New Zealand forces. He was stationed at Auckland for some time. Captain Meivili, a3 he then was, went to England shortly before the v. rr to undergo a course of training at the Camberley Staff College. On the outbreak of war he rejoined his old regiment, and went to France, where he was severely wounded. Later ho went to Gallipoli ( returning to France wit' the New Zealand forces. Brigadier-General Meivili was appointed to command the First Now Zealand Brigade upon t.he death in action of Brigadier-General C. H. J. Brown. He was waarded the Belgian Croix da Guerre in March for gallantry in action.
