A meeting of the Ladies' Collection Committee was held yesterday morning, when arrangements were made for a thorough canvass of the suburbs. The meeting was well attended, and a number of those present expressed willingness to form committees in the various suburbs. The date fixed for the canvass was July 5, and representatives of the women's patriotic organisations present were asked to obtain the co-operation of their members m the various districts. The ladies collecting will carry subscription boxes and properly signed Navy League lists, or notebooks, as proof of their bona fides. Ihe suburbs will be'in charge of the following Remuera, Mrs. Rose; £arneil, Miss Kissling; Epsom, Mrs. McFarlane; Ponsonby, Mrs. Gallaugher; Archhill and Grey Lynn, Mrs. Clark, Mount Albert, Mrs. Mcßride; Devonport, Mrs. (Dr.) Bennett; Takapnna, Mrs. Attwood; Northcote, Mrs. Fraser Mayoress Birkenhead, Mrs. McPhail' Mayoress. ' A special matinee in aid of the fund will take place at the Lyric Theatre on Wednesday afternoon, and a grand naval concert will be given at the Town Hall on Thursday evening. j

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. RECENT STREET COLLECTION. , A meeting of the Executive Committee was held yesterday morning, when a number of encouraging letters and reports from country districts were considered. It was decided that no fund should be detained in the hands of the committee indefinitely; already £5000 had been remitted, and it was hoped that another £5000 would be forwarded before the end of the week. Returns from last Friday's collection are not yet complete, but the total amount collected by the Mayoress of Newmarket, Mrs. McColl, and others was £45 12s 6d, while at Onehunga Mrs. Hutchinson collected £22 14s and Mrs. Kennedy £18 13s 2d. Of the amount collected in Newmarket, £27 13s 6d was received in the boxes and £11 19s was realised by the sale of badges, while the balance of £6 0s 6d was raised by Mr. A. Dare's Kazoo Band.
