PERSONAL CANVASSERS.

ONLY EIGHT VOLUNTEER.

ALTERNATIVE PROPOSAL.

On-t.t eight persons volunteered yesterday for the work of completing th i city recruiting roll by personal canvass. One of tbo volunteers was a woman. As it was estimated that the services of at least 250 persons for three weeks would be required the chairman of the committee, Mr. J h' Gunson, states that the proposal must be abandoned. Following on a further communication from the National Recruiting Board. th« city committee decided at a general meet ing last Wednesday to proceed with the completion of the city roll, provided that sufficient people were available to make the canvass. In accordance with the committee s announcement, the secretary Mr 0. R.
