RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD,
FIREMAN'S CASE WITHDRAWN.
A nniEK sitting of the North Island Railway Appeal . Board was held yesterday when John James Corich, fireman and enginedriver, appenled against his dismissal after the collision at New Lynn in Mm- last. Mr. W. R. Haselden,'S.M.. presided, and with him were Messrs. Hutchings and Whisker.
Mr. J. Mack, for the appellant, asked that the case should le withdrawn. The case had come before him as late as Thursday, he explained, and after discussing it thoroughly he had advised Corich to withdraw it unconditionally, and leave his future advancement in the service entirely in the hands of the Department. Mr. Davidson, who appeared for the Department, said Corich was still a young man, and was still in the service of the Department. It rested with'the appellant himself whether lie secured a permanent position. The board gave the appellant leave to withdraw his appeal unconditionally.
