KEEN INTEREST IN THE POLL' Addresses were again given to the Grey Lvnn residents 'last evening by the Mayor (Mr, G. Baildon) and several of the" borough councillors in.the Bictaiij Hall, on the subject of Greater Auckland and the loan proposals. Tho hall was mil filled, and it was apparent that those.in favour of amalgamation were present in largo numbers. For the most part thi speakers received a good hearing, MB when'question time came the proceedings were rather lively. Mr. Baildon spoke much on the saw lines as in his previous address. Delta? with criticism of tho loan proposals » said that Mr. Pan', after givingBorough Council a good dating, W asked'the ratepavers to reject the- loan proposals. He went on to combat to statement that the allocation of Mm for streets was insufficient to make go« roads with proper foundations., la Rapport of his statement he quoted the i* lowing letter which he had received Iron Mr. Munro Wilson (borough engineer):- " The estimates made out for the Bj improvements in the borough pro™* for bottom ballast in all cases, Din '» depth, of hand-packed blue stone m vour quarrv and 6in of broken metal.'
