PROMOTION EXAMINATIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] ': Wellington, Saturday. . Examinations were recently conducted by ! the Defence Department for seven com- , missions in the New Zealand staff corps. Eighteen non-commissioned officers were candidates. ' The first seven in order of merit to receive commissions are :—-Dovcy 1, Rose 2, : At well 3, Henderson 4, Catto 5' Bishop. 6, McCristell 7.. All these are sergeant-majors. ' Regimental SergeantMajor Kewish and Master ■ Gunner McDonald are to receive commissions in the R.N.Z.A. ■■
