BANKRUPTCY.
CREDITORS' MEETING. The first meeting of the creditors of Walter Hills was held yesterday at the office of the Official Assignee. Mr. Brookfield represented the debtor. Creditors with claims amounting to £505 19s 7d were present; chose who had not proved and did not attend were scheduled at £35, making the total liability £540 19.3 7d. At Mr. Buddie's request, the bankrupt was sworn, and said he could not say on what date Mr. Morton had made an offer of £350 for his business. It was about nine or ten days after the offer that Mr. Morton had put in an execution. At a meeting of creditors, called by himself, Mr. Morton said he could not carry out his offer of £350, because the man he intended to put in might have gone to Coolgardie. Ihe debtor had paid his wife 20s a week for the last two years. It was agreed that tenders be called for book debts, etc., the question of what articles belonged to debtor's wife being left to the Official Assignee.
