[by TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Friday. Thb ordinary monthly meeting of the Thames School of Mines was held this evening, Mr. G. W. Bull presiding. After the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, the inward and outward correspondence was dealt with, amongst the latter being several applications for the treatment of parcels of ore by the Cassel process. The slime difficulty in connection with dry crushing was discussed. Messrs. Clark, Bull, and Baker were appointed a committee to examine the plant, with the object of endeavouring to make some improvement. Mr. Whitaker informed the committee that Mr. Greenway, manager of the Cassel Company, bad recommended the dividing of the stampers, to prevent crushing the ore too fine, and had offered a donation of £5 for carrying out that and other alterations. It was resolved to thank Mr. Greenway, and to inform him that the matter was under con sideration. After other routine business had been transacted, and accounts passed for payment, Messrs. Smith and Dunlop were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month, after which the meeting terminated.

About twelve miners, including representatives from the Thames, Ohinemuri, and Tapu, leave here to-morrow morning en route for the Coolgardie goldfield. The annual meeting of the Thames Cricket Association was held this evening, the Rev. ' J.-Olphert presiding. There was an excellent attendance. The secretary (Mr. W. V. Hall) read the annual report, in which reference was made to the success of the past senson, and the fact that the United Cricket Club had won the local senior championship, and the High School Club the junior championship. A hope was also expressed that during the forthcoming season visits of outside clubs would be arranged for. The treasurer's balance-sheet showed the income for the past year had been £32 8s 9d, whilsb the expenditure had been £22 17s lid, which left a credit balance of £9 10« 10s, of which £2 had been donated by the 'Cyclists' Club. The following officers were elected for the forthcoming year :—Patron, Mr. L. Ehren- _• fried ; president, Mr. James McGowan, M.H. K. ; vice-presidents, the Hon. W. McCullough, M.L.C., and Messrs. Thomas Had ford (Mayor of Thames), Park, Steward, Whitaker, and Greensiade ; secretary, Mr. W. Baker; treasurer, Mr. Thomas Day ; auditors, Messrs. Hall and Newton. It was decided to offer for competition trophy caps for the senior and junior championships respectively. After notices of motion had been given in reference to the amendment of certain rules, votes of thanks wore accorded to the "retiring- officers, and the mooting terminated.
