A meeting of the Otahuhu Fruitgrowers' Association was held in the Masonic Hall, Otahuhu, on Wednesday evening, Mr. A. S'turges in the chair. Correspondence waa read from the Fruitgrowers' Union, chiefly relating to the appointment of Captain Broun as Government; entomologist. .The meeting considered the appointment satisfactory in every respect, and all present signed a memorandum giving permission to the new entomologist to inspect their orchards and inform the owners what particular kinds of insects, useful and injurious, exist among their fruit trees. The specifications drafted by the Fruitgrowers' Union for the establishment and working of an agency for the sale of truit were considered in deiail. Numerous suggestions and alterations were recommended. On the motion of Mr. G. B. Hutton, Mr. T. Lippiatt, the hon. secretary, was authorised to apply through the Union for a case, including magnifying glass and proper fittings, for the purpose of holding mounted exhibits of useful and injurious insects, Captain Broun having kindly offered to supply and arrange in the case the different necessary specimens.
