FREENESS AND FULNESS OF SALVATION.
• The following precious thought we find in one of our exchanges There -:, are two precious words ever welling up out of the living fountain, Christ Jesusour Lord.- One i«, " Whosoever will,- let him take the water lof life freely": (Rev. xxii. '17). The other, "Whatsoever ye shall ask in'My name, that will I do, that the Father may, be glorified, in the Son" (John xiv. 13). " Whosoever" is on the; outside of the gate at the head of the harrow way, and lets in all who hear and who will choose to enter. " Whatsor ever" is on the inside, and accompanies the, believer all the way, and . gives those,,who enter the free- range of all the regions and treasury of grace,. " Whosoever" makes salvation free. , " Whatsoever" makes it full. ' NOT ALONE. We do not labour alone. However feeble our hands, that mighty.hand ia laid on them to direct their movements and to lend strength to their weakness. It is not our speech which will secure results, but ( His, presance, with our words which shall bring it about, that even through them ..a great number shall believe and turn to the Lord/ There is our encouragiement when we are. denpondent. There is our rebuke when we aref. self-confident. There is our stimulus when we are indolent. There is our quietness when wei ajre impatient. If ever we are i totopted to think our task heavy, let us not forget that',: He who set it helps ns to do it,* and fiom His throne shares in all our toils,';; the Lord still, as of old, working .with, us.' If ever we feel that our strength is aothiog, and that we stand solitary againut, iaany, foes, let .us .fall:; back upon the peace: giving.thought: that one man against the world,: with Christ to help 'him, is always in the majority; and let us leave the issuns of our : work in His hands, whose hands will guard the seed;sown,in weakness, whose Bmile-will bless the springing thereof.—A. Maclaren.
