Herbal Extract, 1 find it to be a skilfully prepared vegetable preparation, possessing the properties of the plmts from which it is derived in a highly concentrated state, a fact which I have verified by evaporating a fluid drachm placed in & watch glas.i over a spirit spirit lamp. On weighing the result, a dark green extract, I found the we-ght to be 141 grain. On further submitting the extract to analysis, I found it to be rich in tannin. In h large number cf case 3of ordinary diarrhoea, as well as in many chronic cases and in dysentery, I have proved it to possess great specific control, added to the unusual feature in a majority of diarrhoea medicines, that it does not subsequently constipate the bowels. 1 feel satisfied that, from the number of trials I have been enabled to make of it iu a somewhat expensive practice, it is a most valuable addition to modern therapeutics.
