Nbw Zealand Herald Office, Friday evening. The Customs receipts to-day were £1503 10s 4d. Mr, B. Arthur's aalea to-day were well attended ; a fair amount of business was done. Poultry of good condition sold well. Potatoes are firm, and in good demand. A line of Canterbury, sold from the ship's side at £6; Auckland-grown, the best samples, bring £0 to £6 10j. Cheese is still scarce; a shipment from Canterbury cleared out at 81 to Sid. Bacon is wanted, some of medium quality sold at B£<l to S£d by the case. But little demand for salt butter. Flour and oats, difficult to sell at any price, unless of first-class quality. Fowls sold at Is 7d to 2s 9d; turkeys, 3s; Dorking fowls, 3s 8d; ducks, 2s Id to 3s 3d; small pigs, 7s to Ss 6d; potatoes, 5s 6d to 7a ; onions (in bags and sacks), 2d to 3d ; picklers, id to Id ; stringed onions, 3£d ; pie melons, 2d to 2s 6d ; pumpkins, 3s id to 4s; carrots, 3s 6d; swede turnips, Is 9d to 2s 3d ; kumaras, £d per lb.; cheese, 6Jd to 9d ; bacon, 4d to BJd; butter, 6d to 9£d ; beef, ; flour, £6 to £12; fowl wheat, 4s Id; oats, 3s 6d; apples, 2Jd to 3Jd; oranges, 5s 6d to 7s 6d ; tea (box), 24s to 25s 6d; half-chests, Is lOd ; sugar, 4£<l to 4Jd ; rice, 2£d to 3d; jams, 5s 8d; ! soap, 16s ; candles, 9£d ; raisins, l£d to 3d; salmon, 7s 6d; oatmeal, 2£d; biscuits, Gd; coffee, la 3d. The Furniture Department sale was fairly attended ; all second-hand sold out at fair prices, but little done in newfurmiture.
