COROMANDEL.

[I'BOM A COBBESI'ONIJENT.] March 15. Wo understand that the tender of a Coromandel man has been acccpted for the making of the roads in Coromandel. The amount seems indeed to be a small one, however it is most satisfactory to know that the thing has proceeded thus far, and it will be more satisfactory still when we see the roads begun. A word about our lock-ups. They are about the sizes of pretty good sized pigeon-holes, and are as dark as pitch inside. They aro so small as to be readily filled, and it would be somewhat inconvenient if they wore unexpectedly filled and more delinquents to put, in. Tho most inconvenient part of the whole thing is that these cells are under the same roof as the Oourt'hou*o. I have some cases to report which I will do by next opportunity; at present I have not time. 1 intend, if possible, to send you a quarterly account of the gold transmitted from hence ; in the mean time T will merely give you that tent by the Kapunga Company (hiring the months December, January, and February. December, 10.3 ounces 18 pennyweights: January, 721 ounces 17 pennyweights; and February, 322 ounce* 13 pennyweights.
