THE MAORI PRISONERS.
The following telegraphic message containing a list of the Maori Chiefs killed and captured at Rangiriri has been placed at our disposal. From it we learn that " Rauiera of, the Nguaungawa and Herewini of - Wahi are dead. Tioriori and Tuhikitea of Nga.teliau are taken ; also To tea aud Mailii of Ngatiteata, Wi Kumete, Takerei. Te Ran—his brother Karaka of Ngatimahuta, Waikato—Tawhaua and Reiiiana of Ngaunga. Up to Sunday forty-one dead bodies were found on the scene of conflict, aud Tarahawaiki, the murderer of Mr. Meredith was taken; —lSO stand of arms -were taken from the enemy. Both Tioriori and Tuhikitea were wounded at the time of their capture." Anion'' these names will be seen those of the leading Chiefs of Waikato, and one of them, as the Assembly was yesterday informed by Mr. Bell, is the largest land owner in New Zealaud.
