NEW ZEALAND MAGAZINE.— It is in contemplation to issue at Wellington, on an early day, the first number of a Quab/tirly Periodical, entitled the NEW ZEALAND MAGAZINE, to be devoted to Politics, Science, and light Literature. The publication having been projected with the view of inviting the discussion of such measures as affect the interests of the colonists generally, its columns will be open to the contributions of all who may be desirous of recording their ideas, and of offering to the public the value of tbeir opinions on the subjects introduced. Such a periodical, it is conceived, may also be useful as a means of advancing the colony, by bringing to light its hidden resources, through the assistance of thoie whose researches and pursuits enable them to add materially to what is already known of the capabilities of the New Zealand Islands. And in order to vary as much as possible the character of the work, and to render its peruial palatable to the general reader, its third section will be set apart for the introduction of light amusing TaUs, Sketches, &c. The Editor, in giving 1 this intimation of his design, accompanies it with the assurance, that a large proportion of the talsnt to be found in the colony has been successfully enlisted in support of the undertaking. In size, the New Zealand Magazine will be much the same a* thoss now circulating at home, each number to consist of one hundred pages of printed matter. The Subscription One Guinea per annum, six months payable in advance.
