SEASON 1910. Ta Stand and Travel This Season in Nelson, Wakapuaka, Richmond, BrighUvater, Wakefield, Belgrove, and till Surrounding Districts. The Celebrated Imported Purebred Clydesdale Stallion, SILVER GIFT. SILVER GIFT (12,359) sire Prince of £3 Carruchan (8151); dam Lady Daniley (9369) by Darniey (222) ; gr.dani Jean of Glenstockadale (t)941) by , Glenlee (363); g-gr-dam Dainty, tho dam of Lady Kew (2601), by Defiance (225). SILVER GIFT (12,359) is a beautiful. bay, stands over 17.1 hands high, and, as the foregoing pedigree shows, bred on first-class lines, but, in addition, being well-bred, he is a grand, big, heavy stylish horse, with splendid, broad, thin bones of the best quality, good feet and ankles, and well-sprung ribs, and has altogether the look of a breeder of ihe front rank. He has also proved himself to be a very cure stock-getter. SILVER GIFT was bred by the Strichen Trustees, Scotland. Hia sire, Prince of Carruchan (8151), is the recognise dchampion of the Clydesdale breed. Hr> was bred by J. M'Caig, Challoch, Stranraer, and got by Prince of Wales (673) out of the famous breed ing mare Duchess of Challoch (4780)» the dam of three Cawdor Cup winners. He has gained the following prizes : The first prize when two years old at the H. and A. S. Show at Dundeo in 1890; First and Champion Cup at the same Society's Show at Stirling in 1891; and also the Special Prize given by the Clydesdale Horse Society for the best stallion of any age in the Show. In 1892 he had the Perth and Brechin Premium. In 1893 he won First Prize and Champion Cup at Edinburgh, beating the celebrated Prince Alexander. In 1894 he won first prize in the open class fo» aged st&Uions at tho Glasgow Agricultural Society's Show, and the Cawdor Cup awarded to the best stallion of any ago, beating Prince of Kyle, Prince ot Millfield, and Royal Gartly. In 1895 and 1896 he was hired to the NewtonStewart District at £6 6s ,and won the Cawdor Cup outright. In 1897 and 1898 he hau the Fyvie and Strathbogie Premium. In 1899 and 1900 he had the Turruff Premium. In 1901 and 1902 and 1903 he had the district in Ayrshire ,and this year he was hired by the Fyvie Horse Breeding Society. Prince of Carruchan was bought, by tlie Messrs Crawford at the Eastfielrf sale for 1450 guineas. His dam. Lady Darn ley (9369), is -f-ne of the very best of the mares loft by the world-renowned Darniey (222). Sho was also a noted prize-winner in her day, both in the South and at Aberdeen. Prince of Wales (673j and Darnley (222), the grandsires of Silver Gift (12,359), have the reputation of exhibiting in ihe highest degree the characteristic excellences of the Clydesdale, and of possessing the power of transmitting the same to their progeny, as the following will show : SILVER GIFT is the sire of Gold Coin, now the champion horse in Buenos Ayres, standing there at ten guineas ;also Mr Paul's 4 year-old mare Braw Lass, who secured the following honours in 1908—First a f . Inverurie, and First at Allen ; First at Aberdeen; First at Stonehaven; First, at the Highland Society's Show; and carried the champion ticket right through. Was then sold by auction at 900 guineas, and also Andrell Bros." colt Silverton; First at Blenheim 1907 and 1908. Andrell Bros.' Silver Coin in all took five First prizes and the Champion ticket at the Blenheim Show in 1909, ar.d First at Nelson the same year.
