PHIL WALSH DRAMATIC COY. At the Theatre Royal to-night the Phil Walsh Dramatic Co. will present the comedy-drama entitled "The Yankee Detective." The play is reminiscent of Sir Conan Doyle's series of "Sherlock Holmes," and deals chiefly with the doings of the notorious "Black Hand" Society. The locale is New York in 1897, and the plot is startlingly original in conception, and contains a story of heart-thrilling interest, and a fund of genuine comedy; it is a play that "has appealed to all classes, and is *to-day a reigning success in the larger centres of America. Mr. Phil Walsh appears as "Detective Keen," a part that necessitates a variety of disguises. Miss Eva Marius-Paigne is well cast as the persecuted heroine "Louise," whilst) the otjier characters of the somewhat lengthy cast are distributed among the remaining members of the Walsh Dramatic Company, several of whom will make their first appearance in Nelson in this production. The reserve plan is at Jackson's, where seats may be booked without extra charge. HAYWARD'S PICTURES. Large audieences visited the mat-t-inee and evening of Hayward's Pictures on Saturday, when -the "new series of pictures was keenly en-joyed. T-he colonred Pathe film "Native Dances," is a superb production of the famous French firm, and should not be missed by picture-lovers. Th'e Pathe Orchestra renders appropriate selections at each production of the Hayward Pictures. The Theatre will be occupied this evening by the Bhil Walsh Dramatic Company, and the. Pictures will resume' to-morow evening. SONG RECITAL. Mr. R. E.
