DETAILS OF THE TREATY.
LONDON. February l::. Article ttvo cf the Treaty states that if either (ireai Britain or Japan, in defence of the respective interests above described, becomes involved ioj war with another Power, the other ally will maintain strict neutrality and use efforts to prevent other Powers from joining m hoßtiKties against its ally. Article three reads :— •• If i n the above event any Power or Powers join in hostilties against its all?, the other contracting party will come to its assistance conduct war in common, and mako re»ce by mutual agreement with it. " By article four the allies a^reo that neither, without consulting Ihejother, shall enter info, separata arrangements with another Power to Ibe prejudice of the interest described above. Article five is as follows :■—■' Whenever in the opinion of either party the interests described are in jeopardy, the allies shall oominuniciite with oae another fully I and frankly." i Article six says that the agreement is subject to notice, 12 months prior to the exp ration of five years, of an intention to terminate it.
