Them w;is a big attendance to-day on the occasion of the commencement of the fourth test match, England v. Australia. The wicket was .splendid, and the weather glorious. Maclaren won the toss, and opened the innings with Hayward to the bowling of Saunders and Noble. The pair batted very cautiously, Saunders particularly giving Hayward trouble. Scoring progressed very slowly, and a couple of hours were occupied in registering the first century.
