It was resolved that a ranger he appointed, provided that he accept the lees for full remuneration. It was resolved that Mr W Best's application for compensation for land taken for road be postponed for a month, Mr Beat to be asked to put his application in writing. Rating Act. It was resolved that under authority conferred by subsection 6of section 2 of "The Rating Aot Amendment Act. 1893," the Council hereby determine that the •'Rating Act, 1882." Bhall be in force within the Waimea County, Mates, i It wa3 resolved to levy a general rate of fi in the £ and a Hospital and Charitable Aid rate of l-5d io the £. Mr Pa.tie pointed out that the letter rate was a '' poor rate." Ordinary Business. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Kidson that the Inspector be authorised to suney the road through that part of the Stanley Estate . lately bought by Mr A. Biggs, and that the £10^oted By the ! Council be expended thereon* Mr Pattie referred to the necessity for opening the main road from Riwaka to Takaka. Pigeon Valley Boad. It was resolved to grant Mr Prioe £12 for the work he had done in protecting the J. igeou Valley road.
