LOCAL NEWS.
RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. This Day. [Before J. Poyster, Esq., K. M., and T. Brtoseh, Esq., J.P.] BILLIARD LICENSES. Billiard Licenses were grauted to Messrs. Disher, Devon port, and Gough. The application of Mr. John Lyne for a Publican's License, was postpoued till next Wednesday, in consequence of his absence. CIYIL CASES. T. R. Oxley v. George Jackson. — Claim £10 10s. Judgment for amount, payable in six weeks. Barratt v. Edwards. — Claim £2 13s 9d. In a previous trial judgment was given for defendant, for £4 19s. 2d. To-day plaintiff claimed a set off for the amount stated, for money paid by him on account of Edwards, for labor done at the Government Engine house. The Court gave judgment for plaintiff for £2 13s. 9d., to be deducted from the previous judgment, execution to issue, if balance be not paid immediately. Greenwood v. Windover. — This case, in which plaintiff sought to recover £184 14s, had been referred for arbitration to Mr. Sharp. This morning Mr. Shan; gave his award for plaintiff, for £23 7rf. Id. and costs. Benseman v. E. J. Wise. — Claims £19 11s. 6d. and £3 Bs. 7d. Judgment for plaintiff in each case.
