A bankrupt, named John Jones, came before the Birtniugham Bankruptcy Court ; the failure was ovviug to the bankrupt's opposition to a church-rate of 16s. lid. He was put forward by the rest of the community as champion of the opposition, went to great expense, and was then left iu the lurch. The churclrwai'dens' costs, which the bankrupt had to pay, were taxed at £569, and the bankrupt's own expenses amounted to a much higher sum. — English paper.
