' Three members of the secessionist' section of the Republican Army were forced to register at revolver point and |o send a telegram to County Court Judge Fleming as follows: "Don't coane to the Mullingar sessions to-morrow. You do so at your peril. The Republicans will arrest you. " Mr Justice Fleming adjournel the Moate sessions on the previous day as the result of intervention by three men, whom the regular Irish Republicans have since arrested. The Republicans are urging the Irish army to abandon its allegiance to the Free State. This is ibelieved to be the beginning of de Valera's recruiting campaign. A hundred recruits on their winy from Kerry to Dublin to enlist in the Free State rimy were taken into, custody by a force of armed rebels at Mallow Station, County Cork. The rebels boarded the train and shot one recruit after he had been taken prisoner because he shouted, "Up, the Free State." The Tecruit is in the hospital seriously wounded. During the night 300 men entered the bonded stores at the Dublin Customs House and knocked in the heads of casks of whisky and wine belonging to Belfast firms. Wine and-spirits flowed in all directions, and It is estimated that the damage in this regard alone is at least £100,000. A large number of rebels, armed with rifles, revolvers, and machine guns, invaded Midleton, County Cork, in motor-cars, entered the principal shops, and ordered the employees into the streets. —A. and N.Z.

The Archbishop and Bishops of the Church of Ireland have issued a manifesto expressing horror and apprehension at the fact that Irish crimes are attributed to religious antagonisms. They urge all the Irish people to practise forbearance. —Times.
