RETURNED MEN
1 CONCESSIONS LIMITATION. APPEAL BOARD DISBANDMENT. ADVANCES APPLICATIONS. WELLINGTON, This Day. The fact that the War Pensions Appeal Board will cease to rcceivo applications for appeal after May 15 formed the subject of discussion at a recent meeting of the executive of the stand,i'lg sub-committee of the Returned Soldiers ; Association. Eventually it was resolved: "That since the present War Pensions Appeal Board has never fulfilled ' the object which the association had in view in asking for this setting up of a War Pensions Appeal Board, no action be taken otjier than to press for the setting up of an appeal hoard to consider war pensions appeals on general grounds (including medical)."
Recently the Minister in charge of repatriation advised the association that applications for advances to soldiers under the Repatriation Act would not be received after June 30. The association endeavoured to have this date extended for a further 12 months, buwithout success. While urging all intending applicants to lodge , their applications with the Repatriation Department at the earliest opportunity, it wishes it to be known' that all men in hospital undergoing treatment for war injuries on June 30 will be able to apply for advances under the Repatriation Act, 191S, at the earliest favourable opportunity after their discharge from the institution. —Press Assn.
