The longest street in the world is undoubtedly Western Avenue, Chicago, which stretches twenty-two miles, one end of the city to the other. Electric trams run the whole length of the avenue, the journey occupying close on four hours. Western avenue is nearly ten miles longer than Broadway, New York, which formerly, headed the list of lengthy thoroughfares.
