HIS WELCOME TO NEW

ZEALAND,

ARRANGEMENTS FOR GERE £ MONT AT WELLINGTON.

/Press Association), Wellington, Yesterday. This afternoon the City Counoil diHOussert procedure to be taken in weloomiug the new Governor. Proposals ooujidored were whether it would be preferable to have the oliief greetings given on the wharf with the co-operation of Friendly Sooieties or at the Town Hall.

It had been suggested that the Government should agree to have the prinoipal official welooming at the Town Hall, instead of at the steps of the old Parliament buildings,

Sir Joseph Ward was questioned about the Government's part in the programme to-day and he remarked that so fai the Government was oou> corned with only its own offioiai reception to the now Goveruor. No representations had yet been made to the Government about co-operating with the citizens of Wellington. The Mayor said at this afternoon's meeting of the City Council that he thought it would bo undesirable to have one ceremony at the wharf and another at the Parliament buildings and another at the Town Hall.

He suggostod a reception at the wharf.

This suftgosiiou was approved by the Council and it was understood that there might bo a subsequent oeremony in the Town Hall.
