A Successful Meeting.
Nine Jockeys Fined.

> Otaki, Yesterday. Perfect weather prevailed .for the opening day's racing. There was a largo attendance, and the racing was good.
In the Hurdles all the nine jockeys were find £5 each for refusing to start at the appointed time.
The following are the results:—* Maiden Plate—Furneaux 1, Mooi 2, Romany 3. Won by a head. Div £11 14s and £4 9s.
Te Hiwi Memorial Stakes—Tirole 1, Black Squall 2, Coxswain 3; A splendid race. Div £2 Is and 16s.
Hurdles—Aroha 1, Hutana 2, Killarney 3. A good race. Div £5 15s and £2 10s.
Demonstration Handicap—Hydrant 1, Position 2, Apprentice 3. A capital finish. Div £3 Is;
Flying Handicap.—Australasia 1, Ciovelley 2, Pakeha 3. Only starters. Bad start, fine finish. Div., £2 2s. Welter—7'lirole 1, Australasia 2, Iniwa 3. Fairwater also started. Div., £2 16s. Stewards.—Gold Dredge 1, Delight 2, Whistler 3. Won easily. Divs., jE6 4s and 17s.
