Labour Day in Feilding.

The shops in town were not closed to-day, but all the apprentices' and factory hands were allowed a holiday. Several small picnic parties, left en route for' Ashhurst and other localities, and all these spent a most enjoyable day.
The Oroua Tennis Club opened their season this afternoon. The attendance was only moderate owing to other inducements. Refreshments were' iupplied by the ladies, and added greatly to the afternoon's enjoyment. -A.'. The Manchester Band's social to hon. members this evening was most enjoyable. In response to the large number of invitations the hall was crowded, showing the popularity of Mr Daw'a band. Some of the visitors came from Kimbolton. Several musical items and songs wero given during the. evening.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, Yesterday. Labour Day is observed? almost as s general holiday. The trades' demonstratum was very fine. Sports are proceeding on the Domain, and then! is s very large gathering.
Dunedin, Yesterday. The weather is fine, and the hoUday is universally obseryedi The principal outdoor attractions are the Wingatui races and the Labour Day sports at Outram, both being woll patronised. Wellington, Yesterday. There is splendid weather for Labour Day, which ib being observed generally as a holiday." The labour demonstration this year has taken the form of s monster picnic.
Christchurch, Yesterday. There is perfect weather to-day, which is being observed as a general holiday. All the shops are closed. The principal attraction is the United Trades Unions' picnic at Leeston, which is very largely attended, two trains, consisting of thirty carriages, being; necessary: '
