Victorian Grand National. Press Association—Copyright. Received July 4, 5.47 p.m. Melbourne, Saturday. The chief event of the V.B.C. Winter meeting—the Grand National Hurdles run in a blinding shower of rain, resulted in a win for Marmont, with Lowland Chief second, and Westerly third. Sixteen others ran. The betting was 3 to 1 Marmont and 7 to 1 Westerly. The latter led to the straight, wjjere the favourite, who was handy throughout, came away and won by two and a-half lengths in smin 57^sec.
