CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —In your iseue of the 13th inst. appears an article under the heading of "The Ryegrass Market—Future Prospects," which goes on to quote from a letter received from a firm of Irish seed merchants as to the position of this seed in the markets of the Old Country at the present time. I read a somewhat similar article in your morning contemporary some time ago, and one would almost conclude that they were wrritten especially for the growers of rye grass' seed •in this district with a view to influencing the price. As a matter of fntt the farmers in this district have r>ot given the Home markets any thought whatever, that is as far as Sapdon' seed is concorned. There will hot bo any great quantity in the district this season, but what there is will-'be-of excellent quality, and the dema-Ttd for Sandort rye grass is such have no fear but that will bo forthcoming for #*$s\ve have to dispose of. These articles look suspiciously like an attempt to "bear" the market, but I strongly advise growers not to bo influenced by them in any way whatever, but after a careful survey of the market to put a fair and reasonable price on their seed and not eell unde*-. —I' am, etc.. ."JOHN PI. PERRETT. "Candown," Sanson.

The article referred to by Mr Perrett was published for the information of all ooncerncd in the business and not with the intention suggested, by our correspondent.
