He is by Workman from Blaze, by Sir Colin Campbell (imp.) from Bloss, by Young Prince of Wales {imp). Workman is by Lord Danmore (imp.) from Annie (598), by Kilbowie (73, imp.) from Jeanie Deans (263), by P.ride of Scotland (602 in Highland Stud Book, imp.), from Maggie Craig (262), imported from Scotland by the late Mr Watts, who was offered 400 sovereigns for her when landed in New Zealand. Sir Colin Campbell, imported from Scotland, is sire of many of the best' stallions and mares in Otago, and grandsire of that celebrated stallion Dick Seddon. It is thus seen that on breeding line Duke of Mablbobotjgh is the best horse ever imported into Marlborough, and Ms appearance speaks for itself Duke of Mablboeough took first prize at Christchurch as a two-years old, beating Dick Seddon and others ; and second at Ashburton, where Dick Seddon secured first honors, and as a three-year-old, he took first prize in the three-year-old -stallion class at Blenheim, second in the open Clydesdale class, and second for the best draught stallion best adapted for breeding plough, horses, . During the winter this horse has been at work, and has proved himself a perfect wonder for quietness and staunchness. Mr Wooster describes him as the greatest worker he has ever seen.
