STEAM TRACTION ENGINES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— ln Mr Huddleston's letter published by you on Saturday, he tries to back out of his first statement by getting into a worse muddle than ever, for m his first letter he distinctly said the engine was under full steam. Now, after my contradiction of that, he says it is a matter of opinion, as the engine was m steady motion. He also states that I was walking with my back to both the engine and also the scene of the accident. How Mr Huddle-ton comes to write such nonsense {aa this I cannot imagine, as I was never off the engine from the time she left Parker's paddock until she reached her destination, and I saw all that Mr Huddleston Bupposes was an accident. I have also spoken to the Councillor and drivers m question, and they cay they saw nothing to justify any man m writing to a paper m the way he has done. lam afraid Mr Huddleston has dreamt some of these things. — I am, &c, C. Patchett, jdnb., E.D.
