GOVERNMENT RAILWAYS.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE LYTTELTON TIMES. riiß.-Allow us to call attention to the unsatisfactory way in which the goods department of the Cbristchurch station is managed. It is well known that the accommodation is limited, and yet importers are allowed to leave their goods in the shed, until to day it is almost impossible to obtain our goods; indeed we have given it up. Had the Matoaka been able to'discharge yesterday, there would have been literally no room to land her cargo. We have complained to the manager, who can give us no redress, as it is evident his bunds require strengthening. He should have power to sell the gio.is for storage in two days, or cart them away, and allow those who will remove their goods to do so without suffering annoyance from the indolent. We are sorry to have to appear in print on a subject that must show a very great want of management somewhere. Your obedient servants, SHEPPARD & CO. Feb, 25,1869.
