[BY ELECXIJIC TELEGRAPH.] Wellington, Jan. 18, 7.30 p.m. A private letter dated Saturday last says:—A forward movement with 300 men will be made to-night or on Sunday towards the supposed position of Titokowaru. His followers are said to be scattered in bands over the whole district. Moore and three men had a narrow escape; they fell iuto an ambush and were fired upon. They lost the saddles of their horses which were tethered a short distance from the place where they were attacked. This occurred within sight of Woodall's redoubt.
