CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.

~ A meeting of the. members was; held yesterday to receive .the entries : for the/Canterbury '.Clip. It will be remembered, that the value of this cup has been reduced from £l,oootoisop,-andthe, entrance and nomination fees prpportiptiately reduced. The effect has[been as the number of entries is likely tobe nearly double the number received last year. The for eignentries bave still to be received, and among these will probably be found Mr Stafford's Magenta, : Mr Coraan's Storm Bird; kd one from Mr lvedwood's stable. . : Among .other business, transacted by the Jockey Club was the election of new members to fill lip the vacancies in the club. The following gentlemen were elected:—Messrs W. D. Barnard* W". D. Carruthers, R. Hume Gampbellj G. Packe, and W. Cator.
