The Queen, Captain Kreeft, left this port for Nelson last evening, in order to be hove down. About midnight the Queen struck on a rock near The Brothers, but quickly drifted off. The water rose so rapidly that in half an hour the Queen went down in sixty fathoms; The crew took to the boats, and made for Tory Channel, where the Airedale saw and picked them up, They arrived here this afternoon. The Queen was wholly uninsured. A private meeting of the shareholders of the New Zealand Steam Navigation Company was held last night, when a reduction in the number of Directors from twelve to three or five was recommended; also, that any attempts at winding up should be opposed.
