Bazaar.—The bazaar in aid of the fund for the purchase of a site for the New Church of St. Paul, was continued yesterday, at the Town Hall. It was very well attended, especially during the afternoon and the evening. The residue of the articles will he disposed of by auction this day. We are told that £4OO have already been realised, The English Mail.—Owing to the interruption of telegraphic communication, we were unaware of the arrival of the mail at the Bluff, which arrived there in the Albion on Wednesday morning. The English news was got through the line as far as Timaru, whence we have obtained it, as published in the local journal, by the steamer Wainui. It is likely that the Egmont will bring the mail itself to Lyttelton early this morning.

Theatre Royal.—Consideriug that a sense of duty led many who would otherwise have been present to absent themselves from the theatre last night, Mr. Fawcett has great reason t» be proud of the large audience who assembled, and of the reception he personally met with. The play selected for the occasion, "The Hunchback," has been a favourite with playgoers sufficiently long to make everyone familiar with its plot and characters. We havejalways looked on it as the most artistically constructed of Sheridan Knowles' dramas. Even what may be called the minor parts in "The Hunchback" are worthy of the very best acting, and sufficient to tax the powers of actors of more than average ability.
