Abeival of the Basque Constantine feomNoeTjTAY, Dibect.—She was signalled on Saturday morning, at 11 o'clock, and arrived at the anchorage, off Rhodes Bay, at 3 p.m. the same afternoon. Sailed from Drammens, October 24th, making the passage in 102 days. Captain Amundson reports encountering heavy weather in the North Sea and down Channel till off Madeira; crossed the Equator in 24°.0"; had one or two heavy squalls Afterwards; no N.E. trades; sighted Cape of Good Hope January oth; spoke ship Reginald, bound for Calcutta from London, 90 days out; made Snares January 29th; down the coast had a series of head winds and calms till Saturday morning, arriving as above. The barque is a very superior vessel, and her sailing qualities are shown by her passage out under unfavourable circumstances. 102 days from Norway is equal to the best passages made to.this port from London during the last few months. She was substantially built of oak, with modern improvements, at Havre, about five years ago, has made two or three trips to the East Indies since she became the property of Captain Amundson. Her cargo consists of flooring, batten, and other timber, consigned to Mr. Petersen, Christchurch. The N. Z. S. N. Co.'s s.s. Wellington, Captain H. P. Francis, left the Bluff on the 2nd instant, at 3.45 p.m., and arrived at Otago 9.30 a.m., on the 3rd; left .Otago on the sth, at 12.20 p.m., and arrived at Lyttelton 8.15 a.m. yesterday morning. Experienced fine weather, with light variable winds, since leaving Otago. The 8.8. Stab of the South, Captain Anderson, called in to this port on Saturday afternoon, to coal and report; she left Sydney on Friday, Jan. 6th, to load stock in the Clarence River, for Otago; sailed on' the 28th, with 89 head of cattle; lost eight head during the passage to Lyttelton. Captain Anderson sailed for Otago on Sunday morning. The P. N. Z. and A. R. M. Co.'s s.s. Ph<ebe arrived on Sunday morning, at 8 o'clock, after a fine run of 17£ hours from Wellington. She was detained two days in the Manukau by the Government, nevertheless arrived at Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton to date. Experienced J fine weather throughout.
