The Chronicle of the 25th ult., supplies the following items :— flij Honor the Superintendent arrived last night from Piperiki bringing with him 26 prisoners, 21 of whom were men, and among them nine wounded. The latter were taken to the hospital and the other twelve to the barracks, while the women and children were allowed to go. Pehi demanded the prisoners, but his Honor refused to deliver them. He was accompanied by 30 of the Cavalry Volunteers and intended to warn the rebels off the Waitotara Block. At Pa Karaka no rebels appeared, so that the party had a fruitless ride of 40 miles. They returned at 6 p.m. An alarm was given in the afternoon that they had been attacked by Maories, and the first Company of Militia were called out and remained under arms above two hours, ready to march, if necessary, to their assistance. Pehi's King Flag was hoisted to-day at the York flag-staff below "the Union-jack. It is 9 yards long by yards wide, half red and half white, having on the white, which is the inside end, a blue cross and three stars, emblazoned. It is a magnificent flag, and is now in its proper position. Our Allies.— l Other five wounded men were brought down to the hospital on Saturday afternoon.
