WHEREAS it appears that the disease called pleuro-pneumonia has broken out among the cattle in the province of Otago, and whereas by a proclamation under the Diseased Cattle Act, 18G1. and published in the .Provincial Government Gazette of the province of Canterbury, dated 30th October, 1862, the importation of cattle from the province of Otago, either by land or by sea, was prohibited. Notice is hereby given that the said prohibition will be strictly enforced, and should any cattle be so imported, the same will be immediately destroyed. THE Provincial Government of Canterbury, New Zealand, request designs for a SUPREME COURT HOUSE, to be erected in the city of Christchurch, in the province of Canterbury, the building to be constructed of stone, or brick and stone. Two premiums will be awarded as follows:— £100 for the best design. £50 for the second-best design. Premiated designs to become the property of the Government, rejected designs will be returned. The whole of the designs will be submitted to Edward Dobson, Esq., Civil Engineer; and Mr. Maxwell Bury, Architect, Christchurch, Canterbury, as referees on behalf of the Government. Particulars as to site, number of plans required, &c., can be obtained on application at the Provincial Secretary's Office, Christchurch; or to Miles and Co., Melbourne; or to Gilchrist, Watt & Co., Sydney. HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has fixed THURSDAY, the third day of March, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, at the hour of noon, at a sitting of the Waste Lands Board, in the Land Office, at Christchurch, as the time and place when a sale by auction of Town and Rural Land shall take place, in accordance with clause 24 and clause 35 of the Waste Lands Regulations, subject to the usual conditions of sale, and in conformity with the regulations for the disposal, sale, letting, and occupation of the Waste Lands of the Crown now in force within the Province of Canterbury. I HEREBY give notice that as Commissioner duly appointed under the provisions of the Lost Land Orders Act, 1861, being an Act passed by the General Assembly of New Zealand, for authorising the issue of Crown Grants in certain cases of loss of original Land Orders, I am now prepared to receive applications and to hear the claims of any parties who may have lost their original Land Orders, and who desire to obtain a Crown Grant for the same. All claims will be heard by me at sittings in open Court, of wliich due notice will be given by advertisement in the public papers in order that all parties interested may have an opportunity of attending. THE following clause of the " Cattle Driving Ordinance, 1863," is published for the information of owners and occupiers of Cattle Runs:— " Every person being an occupier or an owner of a cattle run under this ordinance, shall, on or before the first day of March in each year, serve a notice on the Prcn incial Secretary of the said province, intimating his desire that such run shall be under the provisions of this ordinance: And such notice shall on or before the first day of May in such year, be published once in the ' Provincial Government Gazette,' and four consecutive weeks in any newspaper published in the province: Provided always, that on the service of such notice as aforesaid, the person serving such notice shall pay to the said Provincial Secretary the sum of Twenty Shillings, to be paid by him to the Provincial Treasurer, to be carried to the ordinary revenue of the province." IN accordance with the provisions of the Dog Nuisance Ordinance, the Owner of any Dog or Dogs three months old or upwards, shall on the first day of January in every year register the same at any of the police stations throughout the province in a book kept for that purpose. Dogs found wearing badges not issued during the current year will be destroyed, and the owners rendered liable to a penalty of Ten pounds. Fee for registration, Ten shillings. R. C.
