THE ALL ENGLAND ELEVEN.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Sj R —Is it too late to beg that we may not be made ridiculous on the arrival of the English cricketers, by the interference of people who know nothing about the game ? The English Eleven is composed of very worthy fellows, who would appreciate what they are accustomed to at home,—the hospitality and welcome which it is the duty of the Cricket Clubs to offer. But a Superintendent and «a Town Council Chairman with their coaches and six, and their speeches, are more, I should think, then they bargained for. I dont expect the Mayor of Christchurch, to lose such a chance of figuring and talking in public— about cricket or any thing else —but can the Executive not interfere "to prevent the Superintendent from exhibiting likewise? I shall be told that Victoria and Dunedin have set us the. example, but examples have been set before often enough in New York. Yours, AN OLD CRICKETER.
