FERRYMEAD, comprising the whole of the deep water frontage adjoining the Ferrymead Railway Station. This being in connection with the Lyttelton and Christchurch Railway, the most valuable* position in the province for a township, being the point where nearly all the vessels now entering the Heathcote river must discharge annually some 2,500 tons of imported goods, and re-load all the wool, the agricultural produce, and. other exports of the province, thereby creating Ferrymead township the centre oi a large resident population engaged in the transmission of goods between the two principal towns of the province. Its commercial value consists in the advantageous sites it offers for wharves, bonded stores, and warehouses, for the storage of goods awaiting transmission to Lyttelton or Christchurch, whilst the necesr sarily large numbers of persons engaged in these pursuits will afford ample scope for a prosperous business to numerous tradesmen engaged in supplying their wants. The land is of excellent quality. There is abundance of pure wholesome water to be obtained by sinking to a moderate depth, and coals, firewood, sawn timber, and other bulky articles of general consumption may be obtained by residents at some 25 per cent under Christchurch prices. Plans of the land can be seen at the offices of the auctioneers, and at the Ferrymead hotel, at both of which applications for sections will be received at an upset price marked on the plan, and on an early date, of which due notice will be given. Each lot so applied for will be submitted to public auction, and become the property of the applicant, unless there are higher bids.
