Messrs. burnell, bennett, & sprot have received instructions to dispose by public auction of RURAL SECTIONS, beautifully situated on the undulating terraces forming the hank of the North Kowai. These sections are laid off in blocks of about Five Acres each, and will be put up as applied for at the upset price of £4 per acre. The advantages of these sections are very great; standing on one of the most healthy sites in the province, having an extensive view of all the southern district, with its varied and sublime scenery on the one hand, with the sea and Lyttelton heads on the other. The position is one of the best on the Great North Road for business and traffic, being at the junction of the North and South Kowai, and the centre of a large agricultural population, close to the town of Leithfield, which stands on the opposite bank of the river. The facilities of purchase are great. The applicant selects his plot, which will be put up in his name at the first auction sale, at the price of £4 per acre, the applicant having paid a deposit of ten per cent, on his selection. In the event of there being no advance the applicant will become the proprietor, but should it fall to another party, the deposit will be returned. At the auction, one-third of the purchase money must be completed in cash, the remainder by acceptance at six months, bearing Bank interest.
